2022 The Prior Cabernet Franc

For 16 years, we have been working with the deep, gravel-pit soils of Frediani Vineyards at the end of the Simmons Canyon alluvial fan. Jeanne Frediani herself gave us her blessing over a hot cup of coffee in her farmhouse in 2009, and we have been working with these old vines ever since. The berries are tiny, producing a Cabernet Franc of structure and depth, but with a little of the magic 2022 mojo going on, we got a hugely drinkable, lush, layered beauty with no rough edges whatsoever. Look for aromas and flavors of dark cherry, raspberry, spice and chocolate with notes of spice and a fresh lift to the finish.

Reviews
The 2021 Cabernet Franc The Prior is mostly Cabernet Franc from a site off the Silverado Trail, not far from Eisele Vineyard. Aged 21 months in new barrels, it has a solid perfume of red and black fruits, spice, pressed flowers, and hints of chocolate. These all carry to the palate, where the wine is medium to full-bodied and has an elegant, silky texture, supple tannins, and a great finish. It's a classic, incredibly impressive expression of Cabernet Franc to enjoy over the coming 15+ years.
