2022 Artefact Cabernet Sauvignon

Some vintages, these pebbly, volcanic Cortina soils at Kenefick Block 7 just floor us with the wines they produce, ripening earlier than other sites. 2022 is no exception, producing a wine that defies the talking points of the vintage (picked just before the September heat) with a statuesque structure, soft edges and layer upon layer of fruit and minerality. Aromas of black currant, deep cherry, clove, sassafrass, madagascar vanilla and cured tobacco blast from the glass. On the palate, the deep layers of fruit and wood spice give a plush impression, but with energy and length, leading to a powerful, rich, fruity finish that lasts and lasts. Very exiciting now with plenty of energy for the future!

Reviews
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Artefact is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. It is deep garnet-purple colored and races out with expressive notes of black currant preserves and juicy plums, giving way to suggestions of wild sage, crushed rocks, and black olives. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with bright and crunchy black fruits, supported by grainy tannins and lovely tension, finishing with a minty lift.

Based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot from Calistoga, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Artefact Kenefick Block 7 offers cassis, violets, red plums, leather, and spice, intermixed with loamy earth notes. Pure and complex, with medium to full-bodied richness on the palate, it shows terrific elegance, fine tannins, and impressive length. Drink over the coming 12-15 years.
