2022 gave us an amazingly plush, rich, exuberant Cabernet Sauvignon from the heralded Moulds Family Vineyard in Oak Knoll. This steep hillside site excelled in the ultra-low yielding vintage, and it is immediately noticable in the deep purple color, striking aromatics of blackberry pie, Madagascar vanilla, baking spice, star anise, finest dark chocolate, and sassafrass. The palate is layered and enveloping, soft around the edges, with luscious tannins and huge length on the soaring finish.
The 2022 Moulds Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is deep garnet-purple colored and features classic cassis and cedar chest notes with nuances of graphite, dried herbs, and fragrant earth. The full-bodied palate is densely laden with ripe black fruits, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and savory.
Coming from the Oak Knoll District, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Vineyard reveals blackberries, currants, loamy earth, and sweet chocolate nuances, with a darker edge to its aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, round, and supple on the palate, it has sweet tannins and beautiful balance. This delicious, fruit-forward effort will shine over the coming 10-12 years.
