The 2023 Ritual is a tribute to the pre-Prohibition days of Napa, when red blends began winning awards at World's Fairs and Expositions. In 2023, we co-fermented Petite Sirah, Grenache and Charbono from Frediani Vineyards, which forms the core of the wine. A touch of Syrah brings more complexity and suave texture to the final blend. The deep, purple color is saturated to the edge. Bold and luxurious aromatics contain notes of blackberry, cherry compote, bramble, white pepper, dark chocolate and fig. The co-fermentation integrated the tannins of the different varieties, bringing a sense of harmony and carrying waves of intense flavor across the palate, leading to a resounding finish.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2023 Ritual is a blend of 44% Petite Sirah, 33% Grenache, 11% Charbono, and 12% Syrah. It bursts from the glass with bold notes of black cherry compote, juicy plums, roses, and tar, followed by hints of aniseed, wild sage, and crushed stones. Full-bodied, the palate is dense with bright black fruit layers and savory accents, supported by lightly chewy tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and earthy.
This cuvée shifted to some new sites in 2023, and the 2023 Ritual Red Blend reveals a medium ruby/purple hue and has a great, complex perfume of juicy red and black cherries, brambly herbs, violets, and peppery incense. Based on 44% Petite Sirah, 33% Grenache, 11% Charbono, and 12% Syrah aged 19 months in neutral barrels and puncheons, it's medium to full-bodied, round, supple, and juicy, with tons of character. There are roughly 204 cases produced. Drink 2025-2037.
This meaty, hearty, full-flavored and nicely tannic wine is deep in color, assertive in black fruit aromas and powerful in spices, black olives, dried cherries and blackberries. Similar to a Rhone-style blend, it's mouth-filling, full-bodied and dense in flavors. Made from 44% petite sirah, 33% grenache, 11% charbono and 12% syrah. Drink now or hold.
