Mike was the winemaker for Frank and Julie Husic for many years, before Frank's passing in early 2024. This is the first time we have made a single-vineyard Husic Cabernet, and we are thrilled with the result, dedicating it to Frank. This particular block is the Lower Terrace, which falls within the Stags Leap District AVA of Napa Valley. Here the rocky red soils produce a distinctive, complex wine that speaks specifically of Stags Leap. Aromatics of currants, cherry cordial, incense, cocoa powder, blonde tobacco and baking spice abound. On the palate, look for a full-bodied, dynamic, layered personality with a vibrant spirit and intense flavors. The tannin is ultra-fine with a panoply of interlocking notes on the long finish.
This is the first vintage they've released of this cuvée, and the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Husic Vineyard offers brambly red and blue fruits, sappy flowers, leather, and graphite nuances in this incredibly floral, perfumed, complex Stags Leap District Cabernet. Aged 19 months in 100% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. There are roughly 50 cases produced. Drink 2025-2039.
