2021 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay

The sunny, warm dry conditions of 2021 pushed the vines at the famous Hyde vineyard to find water, and the result is a stunningly mineral-laden, rich, dense Chardonnay that stays light on its feet with chalky cut. Aromas of lemon curd, pear, sage, Asian spice sail from the glass. The palate has the layered texture Chardonnay is famous for, but its moderate 13.3% alcohol keeps the wine supple, fresh and vibrant on the long finish.

Reviews
The 2021 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay sings of fresh Bosc pears and yellow apples with hints of allspice, marzipan, and lightly buttered toast. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with a refreshing backbone and vibrant apple and pear layers, finishing long and chalky.

This stunning version starts off with notes of salted butterscotch, lemon curd, orange sherbet and pear, backed by a hint of Fuji apple and details of lemon thyme, green cardamom and fresh ginger. Sleek and smooth, this shows plenty of juicy highlights, with the momentum really picking up on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2030. 40 cases made.
