2018 Silver Eagle Pinot Noir

Our Pinot Noir from Silver Eagle vineyard has until now been released exclusively to the MicroLot list. However, in 2018, we were able to bottle 2 barrels instead of the usual 1, and we have decided it is just too good not to share with the greater allocation list. This vintage is very special, as it was the last to be farmed by the legendary grower Ulises Valdez before his shocking passing during harvest due to a heart attack. His son, Ulises Jr., has taken the reins with amazing skill and viticultural knowledge, so rest assured that winegrowing continues at this great Sonoma Coast site. This 2018 shows the freshness and verve of the vintage, yet retains the hallmark depth, color and power of this vineyard. Aromas of dark cherry, marionberry, oolong, clove, white pepper and floral notes soar from the glass. The palate is broad and suave with a layered, supple profile and intense, detailed flavors. The finish is elegant and fresh with deep fruit but a cool touch.
