Silver Eagle Vineyard

Silver Eagle Vineyard is one of the jewels of the Sonoma Coast. It was planted by the famous Ulises Valdez, one of the most beloved figures in modern Sonoma County farming. Sadly, Ulises passed away during harvest in 2018 at the age of 49. We miss him dearly, but are honored to work with his family as they continue the hard, diligent work of caring for these extremely special vines. Our block is the one in the photo above, planted in the mid-2000's to Pommard clone Pinot Noir. We have been making wine from this block since 2011. The soils are Sebastopol series reddish-brown rocky clay-loam. With Pommard's naturally thick skins, and the clay and iron content in the soil, the wines are broad, deeply-colored and rich, with incredible structure.
