2012 Old Vines Petite Sirah

We are blessed with the opportunity for the fourth year to work with Alfred Frediani and his Petite Sirah from vines he planted himself in 1939. These vines are dry-farmed organically and produce tiny berries with thick skins. The site always seems to produce a style of wine which beguiles the palate with more complex, detailed flavors and a more open texture than many Petite Sirah sites. Yet, one can only describe the 2012 as a dense, meaty wine with a black color and purple around the edge. Aromas of black raspberry, black pepper, grilled bread, dark chocolate, roasted thyme and rosemary and anise fill the glass. The palate is very rich and layered, yet the overall impression is of soft, detailed fruits with earth tones on the long finish.
