2019 Paras Vineyard Grenache

Grenache is the grape that made Mike become a winemaker, and the Paras Vineyard near the top of Mount Veeder keeps the inspiration alive. The steep terraced hillsides provide the juiciest berry notes in our lineup with strawberry, luxardo cherry, exotic spice, lavender and white flowers. The palate is rich, dense and powerful, yet ultimately remains charming and joyful despite its size. Most of this wine becomes part of Ritual, leaving a tiny production of 53 cases.

  • Paras Vineyard: Alban and 515 clone
  • Mount Veeder AVA, Napa Valley
  • Steep south-facing hillsides of shale and sandstone pebbles
  • 1200 - 1400 feet elevation
  • Unfined and unfiltered
  • 53 cases produced from one older puncheon
  • Music Pairing: Rocky Top - Osborne Brothers

Reviews
A pretty, medium-bodied, elegant expression of this fabulous variety, the 2019 Grenache Paras Vineyard gives up a complex perfume of kirsch and strawberry fruits as well as peppery herbs, rose petals, and assorted sappy, floral nuances. Ethereal, balanced, and lively, it was all destemmed, but given its wild perfume and complexity, I’d certainly have guessed it had some stems. Drink this beauty over the coming 10-12 years. This is 100% Grenache from a terraced hillside vineyard in Mt. Veeder.

This is a gorgeous grenache with rose petal, strawberry and hibiscus with underlying peaches. Medium body, fresh and vivid. Fine tannins. A beauty. Drink or hold.
