2014 Putnam Vineyard Pinot Noir

In our continual pursuit to find growers who have enchanted vineyard parcels and who understand our vision, we have been blessed. In 2014, we were tipped off by a friend of availability at a fabled, cool-climate site in Annapolis, a few miles north of the Fort Ross-Seaview district, and when we visited, we were blown away! The Putnams have been farming here for decades, and the coastal site has all the requisites for greatness. We managed to contract for their only parcel of Calera clone as well as a small piece of 777. The results are stellar! Aromas of bright cherry, blackberry, wintergreen, white pepper, underbrush and baking spices are deep and lustrous in the glass. The palate hits with authority, featuring big flavor impression on a focused frame, which sends the finish soaring!
