A row of barrels in the Relic cave.

2016 ATMOS Cabernet Sauvignon

Some years, a few barrels show that extra dimension that just stops you in your tracks. ATMOS is the result of one of those occasions. 2 barrels from Kenefick Ranch clone 7 that would have been blended into Artefact had more color, more intensity - just more more more. And in this case, more was more! So we decided to bottle them separately as ATMOS, our first ever Reserve wine. Dark purple in color with aromatics of blackberry, blueberry, damson plum, cinnamon, Madagascar chocolate, slate, bread pudding and figs. The palate is a powerhouse, showcasing the 2016 vintage in spades, with rich layers of deep flavors echoing the nose. On the finish, the plush tannins provide waves of flavors that last and last. 48 cases from 2 new French oak barrels.

Reviews
The first time they've made this cuvée, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Atmos is a cellar selection of the top two barrels in the winery. This ripe, sexy beast gives up lots of black raspberry and cassis fruits intermixed with complex spice, unsmoked tobacco, and graphite. It's expansive, full-bodied, and layered on the palate, with awesome depth and richness balanced by thrilling purity and elegance. It’s another world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from this team.

One-hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Atmos is very deep purple-black in color and reveals a tantalizing nose of crushed black plums, blackcurrant cordial, blueberry pie and truffles with hints of black pepper, black cherries and black berries with touches of dried herbs and potpourri. Big, rich and powerful in the mouth, it has a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing very long with loads of earth and mineral layers. 48 cases (just two barrels) were made.
