2010 Kashaya Pinot Noir

Our 2010 Kashaya Pinot Noir hails again this year from our source above Salt Point State Park in the true Sonoma Coast, about 3 miles from the ocean. Usually, the vines here are above the fog, but the long cool growing season in 2010 provided extra bathing of the vines in cool maritime weather. Our interpretation of the vintage allowed extra time for the crop to ripen evenly, and the result is a flamboyant, rich Pinot Noir, which is in contrast to the more Burgundian-styled 2009 Kashaya. Look for aromas of dark cherry, cassis, root spice, vanilla and underbrush leading to a fat mid-palate that is balanced by just the right amount of acidity. The tannins are ultra-fine and elevate the long, elegant finish.
