Ted Klopp is one of the great growers of Sonoma Coast, who established Klopp Ranch in 1989 with Pinot Noir, planted Thorn Ridge a few years later, and now has established this beautiful Chardonnay vineyard south of Sebastopol with his daughter Lauren. The area is very cool, being between the Bodega and the Petaluma Gaps, but is planted on Goldridge soils, more typical of the areas 5-6 miles North. Our clones are Robert Young and Old Wente, and create the wine Supermoon for us. The grapes have amazing acid balance and create a truly stunning, vibrant style of Chardonnay.
