Schatzi grew up in the Midwest and caught her family’s passion for wine early on under the tutelage of her great uncle - surgeon by occupation, wine aficionado by avocation. In 1999, she arrived in the Napa Valley for a gap year between her studies in African History at Northwestern and a graduate program in the UK. She quickly found her way to Behrens Family Winery where she learned the business-side of the wine industry.
Passionate about all things wine (especially Napa, Sonoma and Champagne), Schatzi continues to manage both Relic and Behrens and sits on the board of the Napa Valley Vintners, where she is very active on an array of issues including fire mitigation and insurance, land policy and transportation.
Schatzi’s philanthropic endeavors include the Board of Ambassadors for the St Helena Hospital Foundation and human rights, having acted as a hands-on Associate Producer for the documentary film The Uncondemned.
When not at the winery, Schatzi can be found hiking, kickboxing, word puzzling or planning the next travel adventure.
